Ten From New York
Well, I haven’t been very good lately. Very good at finding work, very good at keeping in touch with the people I care about, or very good to myself (accidentally broke some bones here and there, oops). I Been broke too- haven’t been able to buy much canvas, process much film, or buy any new records either.
But these initial months in New York have been a reset of sorts. Like my first time here, I have time to think and do in a way I haven’t been afforded in years. Charles Dickens walked as many hours in a day as he worked. I do too, though I don’t have as much to show for it.
I am an adult in the September of a summer vacation I didn’t ask for, and certainly didn’t plan for. I will be working again soon, and though I don’t know where, I am sure it will be better than the graveyard warehouse job I left behind. I’m going to miss this hurry up and wait someday. I’ve been given some time to dig at my records closer, at Leeann’s records closer, and well, just dig. Dig?
