The Rolls-Royce Corniche has a blown out right front headlight as I cough and focus intently on it in the Venice Boulevard darkness, somewhere between the surplus warehouse with the violent orange banner screaming “EARTHQUAKE SURVIVAL KIT HERE!” and the casket showroom. The childlike wonder of de-icing delay melted my puddle-jumper on pre-jaunt to Cleveland and heightened my excitement. As the precocious ERJ-145 belatedly lifted off Rochester soil, I said to myself “wow, what a ride,” then thought about how nice these would be for last words. Then I thought about what a shame it was no one else heard me say them.
